There are many hazards in aquatic environments, such as natural bodies of water, pools, spas or industrial settings, in which people may become ill or injured and require first aid. Understanding how and when to effectively teach or practice lifesaving skills is crucial for improving outcomes in aquatic emergencies. To address the unique needs and competencies of aquatic environments, we invite authors to submit papers to the Aquatic First Aid Collection. This collection is in partnership with the International Journal of Aquatic Research and Education.
This collection aims to:
- Encourage research which supports practitioners to make appropriate and effective decisions around water safety,
- Provide insightful and up-to-date evidence-based information for decision-makers, including examples, case studies, and outcomes of initiatives internationally and locally.
- Recognise the value of exploration of this humanitarian issue, including the prevention and management of water-related injuries, the education of rescuers and the lay public, and the development of safety equipment and protocols across contexts and learner levels.
