Volume 8 Issue 1 is open!

Posted by Emily Oliver on 2025-03-04

We’re thrilled to be opening Volume 8 of the IJFAE with an article for our new Aquatics Series. This series explores the diverse aspects of water safety, including the prevention and management of water-related injuries; the education of rescuers and the lay public; and the development of safety equipment and protocols across different levels of training, scopes of practice, and contexts. We've teamed up with the International Journal of Aquatic Research for this series and we invite you to read about the unique needs and competencies required for safety in aquatic environments.

First up is a study from Canada to evaluate lifeguards’ confidence, experience, and learning preferences following training in airway management and oxygen administration (AMOA). What’s the connection between training and real-life experience of using this equipment?  How should that affect the training that’s delivered? What forms of technology might help, and what learner preferences need to be considered?

More articles are coming soon.  Please share our journal with your colleagues.  Our special issue  on Mental Health First Aid is still open and as usual we welcome studies from across the world for all things first aid education.
