This month, the International Journal of First Aid Education bids a bittersweet farewell to our remarkable chairperson, Joanna Muise. After 16 months of inspiring leadership as Chair and several additional years of invaluable service on our Editorial Board, Jo is stepping aside to focus on her family and embrace an exciting new career challenge.

Jo’s journey with us has been nothing short of extraordinary. She co-authored our inaugural article “A Call for Revolution in First Aid Education (https://firstaidjournal.org/article/id/2374/) and continued to publish with a network of Canadian and international scholars. A passionate first aider since childhood, Jo has brought unwavering enthusiasm, commitment and vision to our Board. Her impact extends far beyond our journal, as she has also been a transformational leader within the Canadian Red Cross and a driving force in the international first aid education community.

As Chair, Jo championed professionalism and encouragement, always recognizing the unique strengths of our volunteer team. Her leadership style drew out the best in everyone, supporting our mission even when resources were stretched.

We are deeply grateful for Jo’s dedication and will miss her greatly.

There will be a brief transition period as we search for our next Chair. Stay tuned for updates on the new leadership of our Editorial Board.

Thank you, Jo, for your lasting contributions and for inspiring us all.
